View from KCH market stall looking out. WOMADelaide 2013

Adelaide’s Botanic Park became Team Kitty’s home for the 4-day WOMADelaide festival (8-11 March).
It was fun to re-create our recycled plywood pallet pop-up store on the grass under our tent. You can see some of the set-up day pictures here in our Flickr album

WOMADElaide was our first outdoor market and we learned a lots of tricks from our lovely neighbours who are seasoned marketers at outdoor festivals. On our left were the helpful Sally, Ross and Kelly from Embella Jewellery who had travelled all the way from the top end of Australia, and on our right was the lovely Adelaide (personified!), a fellow Etsy seller from Pirates Dreaming, who had travelled from Byron Bay. Adelaide makes her jewellery with partner Aaron James from antique cutlery that they saw pierce, forge and oxidise into unique rings and pendants.
It was great to have such friendly stall holder neighbours on either side. Thank you Sally for removing a bee sting from my arm with your jewellery pliers, and thank you Adelaide for sharing stories about being a seller on Etsy (if we start an Etsy team we’ll want you aboard) and thank you Ross for somehow understanding my heat effected, tired gibberish at the end of each night when you asked me where our front cover for the tent was!

And thank you to our customers. It’s so nice to receive your appreciation and feedback, and to see some of our long term Kitty fans, who can never have enough Kitty goodies, adding to their collection. After two months bunkered down in the studio making stock for WOMADElaide, we do occassionally think we’re a tad nuts – but then when we see the expressions on your faces when your eyes catch sight of the clutch that you ‘have to have’ and, thank you, that’s really rewarding.
Huge thanks also to Jane Leicester for helping with set up, and thanks to my two gorgeous sisters, Sandy and Juz for their help and support too.
